Abinchi International is a North Carolina nonprofit offering food education and farm-based programming for children and educators in Edgecombe County and other rural areas of the state. Every Abinchi program is built around the real conditions of the community it serves, which makes the lessons practical and memorable. Children learn where food comes from, how fresh fruits and vegetables support their health, and how to prepare simple meals using ingredients they can identify and enjoy. A lesson about vegetables carries far more weight when a child has just harvested that vegetable from a farm, helped prepare it into a meal, and eaten it for lunch with other children.

Abinchi Cares for Teachers is a nutrition education program for educators, delivered through wellness workshops. ACT supports teachers with practical nutrition knowledge, healthy habits, and tools that influence student wellness inside the classroom. Healthier educators create healthier classrooms and stronger learning environments.

    Our Work in Ghana

Alongside our North Carolina programs, Abinchi runs community programs in Ghana that complement our U.S. work through shared learning on nutrition, sustainable agriculture, and women's empowerment. These programs strengthen our understanding of nutrition across different communities and inform how we serve families here in North Carolina.

Every Abinchi program is free for participants. Your support keeps these programs running.
