Nourishing Communities. Empowering Futures.
Abinchi International is a North Carolina nonprofit improving nutrition, education, and wellness for children, women, and educators in Edgecombe County and other rural areas of North Carolina, with supporting community work in Ghana.
Because when people are nourished, they can learn, grow, and build stronger futures.
What is Abinchi?
Abinchi, meaning "nourishment" in the Hausa language, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to improving nutrition, health, and opportunity in underserved communities.
Headquartered in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Abinchi International operates programs in the United States and Ghana, building a global network focused on sustainable, community-driven solutions.
We believe nourishment is more than food. It is access to knowledge, health, dignity, and opportunity.
Nutrition is the foundation of learning, health, and economic stability.
Why Nutrition?
Nutrition is at the center of everything we do.
Without proper nourishment:
- •Children struggle to focus and succeed in school
- •Families face long-term health challenges
- •Communities remain trapped in cycles of poverty
Across many communities, barriers such as food insecurity, limited nutrition education, and lack of access to healthy food environments continue to impact daily life.
Abinchi exists to bridge that gap, through food, education, and empowerment.
Our Mission
Our mission is to improve nutrition security and overall well-being for underserved children, women, educators, and communities by providing access to nutritious food, practical nutrition education, and sustainable opportunities for growth.
We are committed to building healthier communities by connecting nourishment with knowledge and empowerment.
