The Women's Shea Training Program is a community skills and empowerment program of Abinchi International, delivered in partnership with Ideapath Consult in Ghana. The program supports women in the Loho community in the Nadowli/Kaleo District of the Upper West Region, Ghana, through hands-on training in traditional shea processing and community-led skills development.

    Program Focus

The program was designed to empower women in quality shea processing practices and to strengthen community knowledge around sustainable use of natural resources. After a community assessment, twenty women from the Sungweeh Women Association were selected to participate in the program.

    Three-Day Community Training

Day one of the program introduced participants to shea processing fundamentals, cooperative learning, and community organization. Day two focused on practical skills development in processing techniques, digital literacy, and health and safety practices. Day three brought the program to a close with hands-on processing sessions and a community reflection.

    Community Impact

The program was attended by community leaders and local representatives. The group leader, Madam Agnes Bamong, shared that the training has strengthened the women's skills and given them new confidence in contributing to their community and households. The Lead Trainer from Ideapath Consult emphasized the importance of protecting the shea tree and supporting women through community-based training.

    Our Commitment

The Women's Shea Training Program is one way Abinchi International lives out its mission of nourishing communities and empowering futures. By investing in women's skills, community knowledge, and local traditions, we help strengthen the foundations that families and communities rely on.
